Life of Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, and the important stages in his life

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, founder of the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas, has a spir...itual and political privileged position in the ranks of the Palestinian resistance, which made him one of the most important symbols of the Palestinian national work throughout the last century.
Birth and upbringing
Ahmed Ismail Yassin was born in the historical village of Jourat, Ashkelon in June 1936, a year which saw the first armed revolt against the growing Zionist influence within the Palestinian territories. His father died at the age of no more than five years.
Ahmed Yassin lived through the major Arab defeat, called Nakba, in 1948 and at the age of 12 which came out of it with a lesson that had impact on his intellectual and political life expressed later that the rely on the arms of the Palestinians themselves by arming their own people more effective than relying on others, whether the neighboring Arab countries or the international community.

Roughness of life
Ahmed Yassin joined the Jura primary school and continued to study until the fifth grade, but the catastrophe that befell Palestine and displaced people in 1948 did not exclude this little child.
It has forced him to emigrate with his family to Gaza, and there conditions have changed the family which suffered - Like most immigrants - the bitterness of poverty, hunger and deprivation, and he had to leave school for a year (1949-1950) to appoint his family which consists of seven members by working in a bean Restaurant in Gaza, and then came back to study again.
Paralysis
At the age of 16, Ahmed Yassin suffered a serious incident affected his whole life since that time until his death, he suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck while playing with some of his peers in 1952, and after 45 days of placing his neck in a splint of gypsum turned out later that he will live the rest of life paralysed.
In addition to the complete paralysis, Sheikh Ahmed Yasin suffered of many diseases, including loss of vision in the right eye after he was hit by one of the investigators of Israeli intelligence during a tour of the investigation in his prison term, and severe weakness in the left eye, chronic inflammation of the ear and sensitivity in the lungs and certain diseases, infections and other intestinal.
Work as a teacher
Ahmed Yassin, finished his Secondary Education in the year 1957-1958 and succeeded in getting a job despite the challenge of it in the beginning because of his health, and most of his income was from the teaching profession which goes to help his family.
Political activity
Ahmed Yassin participated in his twenties in the demonstrations that erupted in the Gaza Strip to protest against the tripartite aggression that targeted Egypt in 1956 and showed the capacity of rhetorical and organizational concrete, where he was active with his colleagues in calling for the rejection of international supervision of the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for the return of the Egyptian administration to this region.

After the 1967 defeat, in which Israel occupied all Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin continued to inflame the worshipers from the pulpit of the Abbasid mosque which he preached to resist the occupier, and at the same time he was active in fundraising and helping the families of martyrs and prisoners, and then later worked as a president of the Islamic compound in Gaza.
Intellectual affiliation
Sheikh Ahmed Yasin embraced the ideas of the Muslim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt at the hands of Imam Hassan al-Banna in 1928, which calls to understand the true understanding of Islam and inclusiveness in its application in various walks of life.
Israeli Tracking

The founding of Hamas
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, agreed in 1987 with a group of Islamic Action leaders who embrace the Muslim Brotherhood's ideas in the Gaza Strip to form an Islamic organization to fight against the Israeli occupation in order to liberate Palestine named it "The Islamic Resistance Movement", simply known as "Hamas", and had an important role in the Palestinian uprising (Intifada) that broke out at the time which was famous as "The Mosques Uprising", and since that time, and Sheikh Yassin is considered the spiritual leader of that movement.
Return of Israeli arrests
Foto Aman Palestin-Malaysia Media Unit. With the escalation of the uprising, the Israeli authorities began to think of a way to stop the activity of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, so, in August 1988 they stormed and searched his home and threatened him with exile to Lebanon.
As the israeli soldiers killing operations increased, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested him with hundreds of memebers of Hamas on 18th May 1989. On 16 October 1991, a military court sentenced him to life imprisonment and 15 extra years. The indictment included charges of incitement to murder and kidnap Israeli soldiers and the establishment of the Hamas with its military and security systems.
Attempts to release him
A commando group belonging to the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam, military wing of Hamas, tried to release Sheikh Yassin and some other elderly detainees, so they kidnapped an Israeli soldier near Jerusalem on 13 December 1992 and presented to Israel an exchange for prisoners, but the Israeli authorities refused the offer and attacked the place of detention, which led to the killing of the kidnapped soldier.
In another exchange deal in October 1997 between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Israel in the wake of the failed attempt to assassinate the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Khaled Meshal in Amman, and the arrest of the Jordanian security authorities of the two Mossad agents, which handed them over to Israel in exchange for the release of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. Ahmed Yasin was released and regained his freedom since that date.
House arrest
Because of the different policies between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, the PA often put pressure on Hamas, and in this context, the Palestinian Authority has imposed more than once house arrests on Sheikh Ahmed Yassin with the approval of his importance to the Palestinian resistance and Palestinian political life.
Assassination attempt
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin has been exposed to Israeli assassination attempt in September 2003 when the Israeli helicopters targeted an apartment in Gaza where he was accompanied by Ismail Haniyeh., but the injuries in his right hand were not deadly.
Martyrdom
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was martyred at dawn on 22 March 2004, after the Israeli Apache helicopters had fired three missiles at the paralysed Sheikh seated on a wheelchair outside the Masjid of the Islamic Compound in al-Sabra neighborhood in the Gaza Strip.
