A Guide to Selecting a Steel Toe Shoe for your Broken Toe

by: Brace Doctor
A broken toe will take about 6 weeks to heal. If the toe is still hurting after 6 weeks, you will need another X-ray to see how the toe is healing and to take further action. There are several treatment options when it comes to treating a broken toe. Some of the most effective treatment options are foot surgery by an orthopedic surgeon, elevating the foot, application of ice, and then resting the foot, the use of antibiotics, a tetanus shot, the process of reduction where the broken parts are lined up so that they heal normally, and by buddy taping whereby a small bandage is placed between the broken toe and the next one.

One of the most effective broken toe treatment options is however the use of a special shoe. These shoes are advantageous over casts in broken toe treatment in that they offer flexibility because you can remove them whenever you want such as when you want to take a shower. These shoes are advantageous in that they can be used after the injury heals and they can be used by another person. Using the shoe for broken toe treatment means you are not exposed to the risks characteristic of surgery such as the risk of infection.

You should however not go for the first special/medical shoe for broken toe treatment you come across. There are several considerations that you should make if you are to make the right choice. One of the most important considerations is the fabric used in the shoe. You will be wearing the shoe for about 6 weeks and it should therefore be as comfortable as possible. The best materials in the market today are suede, canvas like fabrics, gortex like rubber, and leather. Leather is particularly effective in that it is easily broken into a few days after you start wearing the shoe and this means the shoe will adapt to the shape of your foot. Other advantages of leather are that it will not burn or melt easily, it has great aesthetic value, and it is easily polished.

Another important consideration should be durability. The shoe should not only last the 6 weeks it takes for the broken toe to heal – go for a shoe that can be used for another broken toe in the family. Go for a shoe that has a steel shank and this will increase its durability. Scrutinize the shoe critically for obvious design flaws, paying particular attention to the stitches and the padding.

Consider the sole of the shoe. Dig your fingers into soles when doing your comparisons and avoid the shoes where the sole bends easily and you feel the air. You should however not go for tougher and thicker rubber since this will not be comfortable. Walk in the shoe for a while to find out if it is comfortable. When buying a special/medical shoe for broken toe treatment, consider its flexibility. Consider how the contours of your foot will feel after an 8-hour day and consider the ease/difficulty of removing the shoe. Cost considerations are important, as are the features of the shoes such as electrical hazard, well insulated, and waterproof.

Rent a Bounce House - Tip 1

A bounce house can be an extremely cost effective way to provide hours of entertainment for your guests. Bounce house rentals are available nationwide and there are hundreds of options to choose from when renting a bounce house. Over the next few days, I'll be providing tips on what to watch out for regarding renting a jumper.

A bounce house can be an extremely cost effective way to provide hours of entertainment for your guests. Bounce house rentals are available nationwide and there are hundreds of options to choose from when renting a bounce house. Over the next few days, I'll be providing tips on what to watch out for regarding renting a jumper.

There are several things to keep in mind before renting a jumper. The most important thing to keep in mind, Price isn't everything! The old saying, "The cheap comes out expensive" could not be more applicable than in the bouncy castle industry. There is a reason why some companies are drastically cheaper than their competitors. The main reasons some companies are extremely cheap are:

Cheap companies are usually not insured. It is very expensive for a bounce house company to insure each and every one of their bouncers. If there is an accident in your rented bounce house and the company is not insured, "YOU WILL BE SUED PERSONALLY!" Make sure the jump house company is insured by providing an Additional Insured Certificate naming you or your organization. By the way, most homeowner's insurance policies specifically exclude coverage for bouncy castles. So, you're probably not protected by your homeowner's insurance.

If a bounce house company is hesitant to give you an additional insured certificate or if they tell you that you don't need one, then they are usually not insured. If the jumper company wants to charge you extra money for the insurance certificate, then they are probably not insured.

Any professional party rental company who is insured not only has commercial general liability insurance but they are proud of that fact. Usually, an insured bouncer company will promote the fact that they are insured.

But don't just ask for an additional insured certificate. Ask for the insurance agent's name and phone number and follow up with the insurance agent. A common trick in the party rental industry is to only insure a couple of pieces of equipment but then show an insurance certificate for an uninsured item. Contact the insurance agent and ask them if the specific item you want to rent is insured or not.

Any professional, customer-service oriented party rental company will gladly provide the information you have requested. If they don't provide that information, then they are not properly insured. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE COMPANIES! You will be held financially liable if someone is hurt and your future financial and emotional well-being is in jeopardy.

Rent a bounce house for your next party but don't let something as minor as lack of insurance turn your special event into a nightmare. Avoid looking for the cheapest company. Saving a few bucks now may end up costing you hundreds of thousands of dollars later in a worst-case scenario. Avoid the stress of worrying about your guests not being protected in case of an injury. Make sure to hire a professional, insured jumper company when you make your next party rental reservation.

Ferrari 458 Italia Manettino, Launch Control and Interior

by: Passione Rossa
The 458 Italia is equipped with a racing manettino switch leading toward more sporting set ups and giving the driver a wider selection of electronic controls parameters. The ICE setting saw in the F430 has been removed, while the CT setting has been added in order to deactivate the traction control and at the same time maintain the stability control. There are five different manettino positions and conditions: Low Grip, Sport, Race, CT and CTS. Low Grip setting provides maximum grip under all driving conditions, and it is particularly suited for low grip surfaces. The emphasis is on comfort and stability without compromising the handling. Sport is the best setting for day to day driving and guarantees great safety under good grip. Race is particularly suitable for track driving providing maximum performance and stability in optimal grip situations. CT helps the driver improving his driving skills in safety, by keeping active the stability control. It allows over-steer right to the edge of the car’s limits and guarantees enhanced driving pleasure and fun behind the wheel, particularly on the track. Under CTS setting, both stability and traction control systems are deactivated, giving the driver maximum freedom and control on the track. No electronic systems intervene on the vehicle stability with the exception of E-diff3 and ABS.

On the 458 Italia, the driver can decouple the suspension damping from the electronic configuration selected on the manettino. The suspension decoupling button offers improved “filtering” of uneven road surfaces in order to improve performance and handling on uneven broken surfaces, such as the ones at the Nürburgring race track.

The launch control button is instead designed to offer the best possible acceleration from standstill. It delivers the maximum possible torque to the ground and prevents wheel spin as the car accelerates away. Its activation is indicated in the instrument panel. To start using the Launch control, the manettino must be selected on race, CT or CTS setting. With the car still at standstill, the driver then needs to put the gearbox in manual, selects first gear, pushes the launch control, presses the accelerator pedal and then releases the brake pedal.

The stylistic interior choices developed by Ferrari Centro Stile reflect a functional, ergonomic cockpit design. The driver is set in the center of a streamlined and intuitive layout, which is very much in line with the marquee’s signature styling cues.

10 Thing Sales People Need to Know About C-Level Decision Makers

by: Kelley Robertson
Selling to high-level decision makers is challenging at the best of times. However, it can be easier if you understand a few business principles.

C-level decision makers are paid to improve their business results. Regardless of how the media portrays these executives, their primary concern is to improve their business. This includes increasing sales, market share, customer loyalty; reducing costs, errors, or employee turnover; improving productivity, employee engagement, customer service, etc.

How does your product, service or solution address one of these issues?

C-level decision makers deal with changing priorities. Improving customer engagement may be a top priority today but tomorrow that executive may be faced with cutting $250,000 in expenses. That means they sometimes go cold after expressing initial interest in your solution.

Do you have a strategy in place to keep your solution current?

C-level decision makersare extremely busy. The average executive arrives early in the morning and stays late into the evening. They get dozens of calls every day, receive too many emails, and attend too many meetings. This means that you need to maximize every minute you have when you connect with them. This applies to telephone conversations and face-to-face meetings.

Do you know EXACTLY what to say when you connect with these individuals?

C-level decision makersrely on others. Contrary to popular belief, these high-ranking big-wigs seldom make decisions on their own. They often defer to other people on their team and ask for feedback from peers and/or subordinates. This means you need to involve these people in your conversations and include them in the decision making process.

Do you have the ability to finesse this?

C-level decision makers don’t like to make mistakes. A major mistake can affect an executive’s reputation in their company. This affects the decision-making process which means you need to uncover their risk factor during your conversations.

How will you reduce your prospect’s risk factor?

C-level decision makers have big egos. Most executives have a healthy ego which is one of the things that helped them achieve their status in the company. This means that you need to be very confident in your own abilities when selling to these individuals. Don’t back down when you’re challenged. In fact, doing so could cost you the business because C-level execs want to deal with people who believe in what they do.

Are you confident enough to deal directly with C-level executives?

C-level decision makers spend the bulk of their day in meetings. The next time you’re in the office, watch an executive. Chances are you will see them dashing from meeting to meeting. Your prospects are in the same position. They aren’t sitting at their desk waiting for you to call them.

Are you persistent in your efforts to connect with these individuals?

C-level decision makers have at least 40 hours of work on their desk at any given time. Several executives I know have expressed these sentiment, “I will never get caught up” or “Just when I think I can’t get busier, I do” or “I never call a sales person back because I already have too much on my plate.” you need to give these individual’s an extremely good reason to meet with you or take your call.

Is your approach effective?

C-level decision makers receive upwards of 150 emails every day. Many sales people use email as their major form of correspondence and it can be ineffective because most C-level decision makers simply don’t have time to respond to every email. A Managing Director once told me that he prefers telephone correspondence because he simply can’t get to every email, even when he wants to.

Do you use a variety of strategies to connect with C-level decision makers?

C-level decision makers think big picture.Stop focusing on your product or your company and start looking at the big picture of your prospect’s business. Most C-level execs don’t get bogged down in the little details of their business—they pay others to take care of the details. I once met with the President of a $125 million company and made the mistake of asking her questions about front-line execution instead of top-level strategic issues.

Can you see and discuss the big picture?

Think about your responses to each question and adapt your approach accordingly.
